The Bay Center for Spiritual Development

I am teaching a Plein Air Painting class on June 5 & 6 at The Bay Center for Spiritual Development in Kilmarnock. We start with a double painting demonstration at 9 am Friday morning ~ fellow artist Ed Hatch and I will do a double painting demonstration. The afternoon and following day will be plein air painting at locations nearby. Saturday night, everyone will exhibit their paintings on the Lawn. Ed and I will do a friendly critique of the paintings!  All experience levels welcome! The fee is a $35 donation to The Bay Center. You can register online on their website at www.baycenter.info

The public is invited to attend the Wet Paint Party Saturday evening from 5 to 8. A portion of all sales (30%) will benefit The Bay Center.

DEMONSTRATIONS IN OIL & PASTEL
Balancing Light, Color and Geometry

Meet in my studio in Mathews County*, Virginia overlooking the water for a morning full of     demonstrations. I will share my unique approach to oil and pastel painting with you~ demonstrating in both oil and pastel.  Seeing the many ways these two mediums are related will open your eyes no matter which medium you work in!
Of course, my emphasis will be seeing and  interpreting light and color! I will also touch on balancing geometric proportions.

PLEIN AIR PAINTING
Personal Critiques at Your Easel

After lunch** at a local favorite eatery, we will paint en plein air on one of my favorite painting locations, Bethel Beach Preserve.  I will paint and also provide individual feedback and instruction at your easel. Then we will gather again at my studio for a ’show & tell’ to help you tie it all together.

ACCESS TO MY ONLINE CLASSROOM
Before the Workshop Begins

When you register, I will email you access to my online classroom so you can meet the other participants, and get info and ask questions before the workshop starts. I will also send you  a special assignment to help prepare you for getting the most out of your workshop.

If you have not painted en plein air, don’t let that stop you . . .
I will have some simple ways you can get started and try it out!
