Plein Air painting events called Paint Outs are happening all over the country. En plein air is a French term which literally translated means ‘in plain air.’
In the 1880s artists’ paint makers began putting paint in tubes. No longer restricted to their studios mixing paint, some artists took their paint and brushes and headed out into the French country sides.
You recognize these painters by the light and color of their canvases; Monet, Pisarro, Renoir, VanGogh, Cezanne and others. The raw creative energy on their canvases caused quite a stir. And when you attend a Paint Out you will see why.
